Last night my aunt, Shelly Wallwork Catton, passed away. After a battle with cancer, she went home to live with our Heavenly Father.

Today, I am incredibly grateful that I know about the plan of salvation. I know that Shelly was greeted by friends and family that love her. I know that I will see her again, and I know that she is happy.

Though I am sad that she's no longer with us, I know that it's not forever.

She was a kind, sweet, and gentle woman very much loved by her family. We will miss her greatly.

AoG Day 7

Tonight, I am grateful for Haagen-Dazs Vanilla Milk Chocolate Almond Ice Cream Bars. They remind me of family dinners at my grandparent's house on Loganberry. Add in a 2 liter of Squirt and a big plastic bowl of watermelon and that about sum sums up my childhood.

This familial memory comes at a time where I am greatly missing my family. We're going through a hard time right now, and I want to be with them very badly. It's not much, but it makes me feel connected a little bit.

L.O.V.E.

I love this movie!!!!! Hugh Jackman is a fox and makes me dream of hunky Australians. What's not to like?
See? Foxy, right?

AoG Day 6

I'm grateful for my parents who, like it says above, inspire, astound, and amaze me. I love them so much!

AoG Day 5

Today, I am grateful that after basically a year of complaining about the noises and vibrating pipes our kitchen sink causes, someone came and fixed it.

Overall, it took the guy just 10 minutes to fix it. Countless hours of frustration silenced in mere minutes. I love being able to turn off the faucet without worrying about rattling the walls.

Woo hoo!!!

AoG Day 4

Today, I am grateful for small favors. Yes, it snowed today, but it didn't stick. That made all the difference.

Oh, and something that I forgot to say I was thankful for on Friday, I'm thankful that I had the opportunity to hear Brandon Mull speak.

He's the author of the Fablehaven series and gave lots of really great advice to aspiring writers. It was great!

AoG Day 3

Today, I am grateful for small mercies. For church, I usually pack a couple packs of fruit snacks to tide me over until I get home. I usually have morning meetings and am gone for a long time.

I had to leave early today for a meeting and forgot to grab my snacks. I texted my roommate to bring them with her, but she was sick and not attending church. I was sad.

While sitting in Relief Society, I was digging in my purse for some gum, when what should I find but a pack of My Little Pony fruit snacks. I leaned over to my friend Stacey Bond, and whispered, "Jesus loves me." and proceeded to eat my bounty.

Also, I found a girl who knows Excel pretty well in my Relief Society that came over to help me out with some stuff that I had been stuck on. She seems pretty fun too. New friend!

Despite the long day and the dreary weather we're having, today was a good day. :)

Oh, and I'm thankful for this cute picture.

Meh..

I've been feeling super whiny this week. Everything irritates me and I find myself making sarcastic comments under my breath in every class. Though funny(everyone laughs), some of them are not as nice as they could be.

My patience has run out. I'm trying not to be this jaded old lady, but that's how I feel. Jaded.

How does one go about unjading themselves? I want to, unjade myself that is. I'm trying to see the world through non-critical eyes, but is harder than I thought it would be. Sometimes I'll be doing really good, then I'll see something and slip back into my old habits. It's a process. My roommate Channing is trying to keep an Attitude of Gratitude journal to change her way of thinking. I think I'll do that too. Maybe I'll use this blog to give thanks.

So each day, I'll try and post at least one thing that I'm grateful for.

Today, I'm grateful that it is Friday. No one will ever know how grateful.

I'm also thankful for nerdy girl things like this that make me smile and scour the interwebs for copies of these movies. A lot of them are available on Netflix Instant Play. Bonus! Enjoy :)

Sammy's

Sammy's is this new legit little diner place in town. They have burgers, fries and some wicked shakes. They have pie and cupcake shakes, where they literally put a cupcake or piece of pie in the blender with some ice cream. It's kind of cool! The ambiance is pretty kicked-back, and low key.

Along with bar stools, they have a bunch of old desks as tables and several old couches for lounging.

They have live music on Friday and Saturday nights, and they're open late. It's quickly becoming one of my new favorite places in Rexburg.

Seriously. It makes Rexburg seem less lame...

Word (more or)less Wednesday

Fair

At the start of the semester we hit up the Eastern Idaho State Fair in Blackfoot and had ourselves a good time!

View from the top of the ferris wheel.

Feeding the llamas at the petting zoo.

This llama legit ate all of our food.

It was a fun way to start the semester! We had lots of good food and enjoyed being together!

Cake Mania!

My old roommate, Stacy, asked me to make her a birthday cake for when she rolled into town this weekend. She's had the design picked out for months now. I like how it turned out, but it was A LOT of work. I haven't really decorated a cake since my cake decorating class ended.

She loved it, and everyone else loved it too!!

I was up late last night making the roses for the top. In total, I made 35 royal icing roses.

I used 3 batches of butter cream icing. 2 batches of royal icing, and 2 cake mixes. I think it came together nicely, and I'm kind of proud of it!
Please ignore my trashed kitchen. I've been working on this cake for most of the day, and I ran out of dish soap. It's on my to do list...

Woot!

I found these expandable racks at The Dollar Tree for $1 (duh). They are the perfect solution to my purse storage problem! I'm only sad that I waited until now to do it. I could have been enjoying them for many a semester. This frees up space under my bed so I can put the shoes I don't wear very often under there. Sweet!

FUN FACT:I found my missing Bose headphones in one of the pockets of the orange purse in the picture. I am seriously so stoked!!

Flower Girl

My first corsage I made in Flower Arranging on Thursday!

(I tried looking straight on at the camera, but all those shots looked kind of ridiculous!)
