So there might still be some of you out there that haven't yet heard that I have received a new calling. My dad does a pretty good job of blabbing to everyone, but just in case I might as well post it here.
Drum roll please...
I am the new 2nd counselor in the Relief Society! Ta da!
This will be a definite leap from my previous callings. I feel like I'm too young to be in Relief Society, let alone in the presidency for it. As second counselor I am in charge of "Enrichment and Activities".
I feel a little inadequate for this position , but am still excited for the opportunity. My roommate Kelli was called as the secretary, so we'll get to hang out together during meetings. And by hang out I mean listen intently and take notes. :)
It'll be a tough semester with my course load, but I am very excited about all my classes and my new calling.
I'll keep you posted!

Booties, Booties, Booties, Booties, Walking Everywhere!
Today I made a pair of booties to go along with my baby cap! Again, it took me about an hour longer than everyone else but I got it done! It's kind of nice though, working in an almost empty sewing lab. A girl Tanya, who sits at the machine across and a little over from me, always has to stay late too, so we've become friends. She's really nice and encouraging. She's one of the pregnant girls, along with her twin sister who is a month further along than she is (the things you learn whilst slaving away at a sewing machine...).
So to date I've made:
2 baby caps
1 pair of booties (planning on a second pair)
Next up:
A sleeper!!! Wish me luck!
FHE Fun!
For FHE last night we went to Porter Park and played capture the flag, and this tag game where you have to link arms. It was a lot of fun, and it was great getting to know the people in our ward better! The girls I'm standing with in the bottom picture are my roommates. Kelli is in the white hoodie, Kara is standing behind her, and Beth is the redhead in the flower hoodie. I really like them and we seem to get a long well. My other roommate Megan stayed home, but she's pretty cool too. I'm trying to keep my posts up to date so be expecting more!

NY Fashion Week, Here I Come!
So as some of you may know, I am taking a Child Clothing sewing class this semester. This was our first project, a baby cap. I wanted to make one for my new cousin Dallin, but the only fabric left to choose from was way girly. So I'll just have to make him one when I can get a hold of more fabric. It took me way longer than everyone else in my class to finish it, though it's not bad for someone with zero sewing experience.
We're making little booties in class next time and I'm kind of excited. I'm lucky that my station is next to a super helpful girl who answers all my questions and makes sure that I know what's going on. I'm still a little nervous about this class, but I'm looking forward to all the cool stuff I'm going to learn.
There are 20 of us in the class and out of that 20 about 3 of us are unmarried. Out of the 17 remaining, about 8 are currently pregnant, and I'm sure out of the 9 left, some have babies at home. So I felt a little ridiculous the first day of class surrounded by pregnant girls taking a sewing class for kids, but I've since gotten over it. This is like preparation for when I have a family. I've made some great friends already and am looking forward to what comes next.

Coming Soon...
Blog posts that are actually worth your time! It's been crazy hectic as I get back into the swing of the semester and get adjusted to 4 new roommates (we still have an empty room)! In the mean time I am going to post some websites I have stumbled on and want to share with you

Coming Home
Okay. I know it's been a while since I last posted and I hate that. I really hate that, but school has been craaazzy! But as of 4:45 Winter Semester 2009 ended. I'm done!
And while this passage brings immense joy (No more Advanced Research and Theory) it also brings a sadness. The girls I have come to love as sisters are all going home. Leaving to be with their families during the summer months whilst I kick it here in good ol' Rexi. I will miss the late night/early morning chats and giggle fests. I've never felt more at home when away from my family than I do with them.
I can't really describe to you in words the friendships I forged this semester. We clicked. There were similar interests and also differences of opinions, but we loved each other just the same.
This makes me a little apprehensive for next semester as I will be getting 5 brand new roommates that I have never met before. I hope they understand my sense of humor and my general messiness in the bathroom. I hope they get that it irritates me when you don't fill up the ice tray after you use the last cubes. I hope they understand that occasionally I like to be by myself and that I love to be surrounded my laughter. If you can make me laugh, you are in for life.
My biggest fear is that I will be put with girls that don't know how to laugh and that I will slowly shrivel up and die....
Not really, but I think you get my point. Fingers crossed that I get amazing/non-skanky roommates for summer.
On the flip side of being sad to leave, I'm also excited to go home. I've missed my family so much. This is the first time that I've gone a whole semester without being able to go home for a visit. And while I don't think I will ever see Clovis as home, I have to admit that I'm kind of looking forward to seeing it. All my family is there. I miss watching Supernatural with my mom and having dinner at my Aunt Amy's house and getting make-up samples with my Grandma. It will be a fun week to be sure.
California...I'm coming.
